Accident

So, I'm laying in bed and decided to post about the newest stump in my life. A broken ankle-. Dec 5,2011
Skateboarding last week with a friend, dark quarter pipe = bad idea. Ended up breaking my ankle on impact and it bent in half like an L. One of the grossest things I've ever seen. We waited around for the ambulance for 40 minutes before realizing... it probably wasn't going to come any time soon. Hopped in the back of my friends car and off to the hospital we went. When I finally got checked out and had the x-ray I was told I needed surgery and was going to be spending the night in the hospital. Great.
Surgery happened Saturday afternoon, including a plate and screws. Had to spend another night at the hospital for healing.
As of now, I'll be out for 3 months, but am hoping for a quick recovery. Work misses me and I miss work. I also miss walking. Also, going out and shooting isn't much of an option. Stuck healing with some crutches to hobble around! Staying positive is the main focus I guess.  My follow up appointment is on the 14th.
Won't be updating flickr/ facebook/ blogger as much as usual, but once I'm back on my feet I am definitely going to shoot my heart out. (photos of course.)

A-1 Shots.

Just a little taste of me behind film.

Small things, big things.

All moved in. More moving to be happening at the end of October, when I move out (officially on my own). It's a great feeling to be back where I love, life is awesome here.
  - I've been shooting lots of film ever since I picked up my Canon A-1, steal of a deal. Shot over 4 rolls in less than a month. It's getting a bit pricey, but its a great change from digital. Love the raw feel.
- Applied for a few jobs, got a call back today, I'm HIRED! Yay, exciting.
- People in my life are making me happy, they are awesome to say the least. Keeping me company and making everyday awesome. Bonus.
- Looking for places lots. This is frustrating and scary.
- Going to A LOT of local shows lately. I can't even believe the amount of local talent out there, it blows my mind. I can't help but pick up every CD possible if present at the shows. Also, I've always got my camera in hand at these shows. Pretty positive that event and music photography is becoming my niche and comfort zone. It seems to come completely natural.
- I love sushi. Ok, my mind has turned now, time to end this post.

I'm moving in 4 days to Vancouver. This feels surreal. I'm way too excited.

Okay, so I haven't been blogging much the past few months.. I've been enjoying the great outdoors! Came back from a Whistler trip a few weeks ago to ride the bike park, always the best highlight to start a summer. Also, graduation.. It feels so weird to finally be done Highschool forever, almost surreal. Time to start my life as an adult.
I've been shooting some Okanogan parties lately, whenever I can make it out. Check the Flickr for some of those shots!
In other news, I am shooting for a fellow DJ, Stylust Beats later this month and also shooting press for the West 4th street festival coming up.

Peace and love.

  • Also, check out whats been playing through the speakers over the last few weeks for me: TV on the Radio's "Nine Types of Light" Album. This isn't one to miss. Check out the music video to the single "Will Do" to get a taste.

OLD SCHOOL RAMBLES AND HI FRIEND.

Feeling the need/ want to blog in heaps lately is sort of odd. It almost feels like the old days where I'd make dumb little depressing blogs about everything on my mind, how I straightened my hair for an hour and hated the place around me. 15 years old with too much angst back then, who knows. Guaranteed: this blog wont have any of that garbage. Anyways, back on topic, this is my fella friend Mary Scott, a thrift store adventurer and Vancouver kid who exceeds in being socially awkward (which is a good quality these days)...  We've shot together once and I look forward to the next- hopefully sometime near the end of the month. It will be prepared and definitely less rushed. I love shooting someone with class like this. This will be fun and free. la la la. Shots for shots.

Floating ideas

I've been thinking about doing a photo project for a while now, dealing with complete strangers I meet on the streets as the main subjects. Something has always fascinated me about the connection you can gain with anyone, anywhere, at any given time. The idea of connecting with someone through a camera and a simple idea is beyond compelling. Whenever I've roamed the streets of Vancouver or any city in the Okanagan, I've always seen a few people who would have been great subjects for this plan and made me wish that I had my camera or the guts to even face them.  This idea was Greatly inspired by Benoit Paille's "Stranger" set, which can be viewed here .
Deciding that this will be an interesting and challenging way to work with people.. Who knows who I'll meet and the stories that could come from these experiences. This project will be ongoing and continue to develop with time. I hope to get this ball rolling and keep it going where ever the road takes me. Let's hope I don't get into too many dilemmas along the way...

Here are a few sampler shots I've taken that got me rolling with the initial idea-

The beginning...

So, I have decided to start my blog today. Not too sure as to what will be posted up here, but I'm thinking it will be a nice mixture between my work, things that interest me, and a splash of personal life. This will be a place where I will post frequently with photos, stories behind the photos, and anything else I find relevant or worth sharing with the masses. So, this is the beginning to my blogging journey. Welcome, hope to see you around. Keep posted here and check back every now and then!
